Meanwhile In Maine (Writing Updates)

It’s been a minute. I’m horrible about updating the site, I know. Part of that is because I spend so much time blogging for clients. Part because I’m actually super private and don’t share a lot. I’m going to try to be a bit better at it.

Upcoming Events:

I’m on deck for a panel at Necon: “Bloody Swords & Dark Magic: Horror Elements in Swords & Sorcery” Full programming is here.

I’ll also be appearing at the Author Fair at the Topsham Library August 5th.

Things I’m working on:

  • Review of the audiobook for Abode. I’m beyond thrilled at how this turned out.
  • I’ve also recently finished a few projects I’m super excited about, but they are all under wraps for now.
  • Final edits on Dawn 2, book two of my fantasy series. Going right into Dawn 3. Yes, it’s taking me forever. I’m eternally grateful to my publisher, Crossroads Press, for their patience. This is one of my lifetime babies, my Game of Thrones or Lord of The Rings. Writing fantasy is both extremely gratifying and extremely hard.
  • Last short for a new collection. I’m hoping to get the draft done today.
  • Non-fiction essay for a not-yet-announced thing. I try to donate one piece to charity every year. This one is close to my heart.
  • Creating a separate website for copywriting. The age of AI is shaking things up, and I need to react. This also may mean a return to music journalism or something similar.
  • Poetry collection. I’ve decided to revise and re-release Whispers From The Apocalypse. I think I may also expand the chapbook I did for Merrimack, Of Static And Nightmares.

Today’s agenda: grilling, some editing, possibly crafting. I suspect we’ll end up diving into some vinyls later. May try and weed my herb/rose garden. Not sure. I kinda like it looking a bit wild and overgrown. But I do at least need to deadhead my roses.

Current WIP soundtrack: Black Angels, Velvet Underground, Blood Ceremony.
